Leveraging MS Excel macro to simplify RPE template design

One of RPE (now called PUB)’s weaknesses is its complexity, which comes at a price for RPE being a highly flexible, generic document style report generation tool. RPE template designer needs to know about schemas, reportable APIs, data URLs and how they are connected. Designing a template with multiple levels of traceability in table layout becomes bit complex as dynamic data source configuration elements need to be mashed within table rows or cells. Template designer needs to figure out how to nest all of those dynamic data sources within a table row and to add containers around table rows which is not easy. In this article, we will see an example (focusing on Microsoft Excel output), where arranging the data in the correct tabular format is taken care by a post-processing macro.

How to get eSignature details from WorkItem?

For compliance purposes, you may need to provide eSignatures (enter the password) at specific points during the workflow of a WorkItem. If you are using workitem schema (https://server:port/ccm/rpt/repository/workitem?metadata=schema) from RTC (now called EWM), the signature-action can be extracted with custom E-Signature attribute, but the signature comment cannot be extracted. To get e-signature comment, you can use generic schema.

Why my Studio is too slow?

The slow response is because of the windows process “rdpclip” (Remote Desktop Clipboard) that allows users to manage a shared clipboard between a local host and remote desktop.
